Vitamix is an all-encompassing machine. Technically, Vitamix is a brand of superior quality blenders, but these powerful machines can do so much more. With a Vitamix, you can also juice whole foods, grind grains, knead dough, create frozen treats and even heat up soups and sauces.
Because of their quality performance, Vitamix products run on the more expensive side of your regular small appliances, ranging anywhere from $450 to $700 depending on the product you purchase.
The benefits of using Vitamix.
Though it can perform multiple tasks, Vitamix is actually very easy to use. It functions like a regular blender, but it can do so much more. Simply choose your speed, and let the Vitamix do all the work. Its powerful blades cut through just about any food, so there is no need to struggle with the appliance.
Vitamix also has many health benefits. Because of its powerful blades, Vitamix can create smoothies or fruit juices from natural ingredients. If you want to make orange juice, simply place an orange in the Vitamix?peel and all?and Vitamix will blend it so it becomes orange juice. You won?t taste the peel, and the juice will be healthier for you. Not only will you be lacking the unnecessary sweeteners and concentrate from commercial juices, but the peel contains a great amount of essential vitamins and nutrients.
When creating smoothies, the Vitamix allows you to add multiple ingredients without the risk of the smoothie being too grainy. Do you want to add spinach or kale to your smoothie? Go ahead?you won?t get the leafy chunks you normally would with other blenders.
The Vitamix is also a great time saver. Want to make a smoothie for breakfast? Simply toss in your ingredients, press a button, and you?ll have a great tasting smoothie in a matter of minutes. Want to make soup for dinner? Again, throw in all your ingredients and let Vitamix do the work. The high speed actions of the blade create friction that is powerful enough to heat the soup, so there?s no need to transfer your meats and vegetables into a pot on the stove.
Because of its versatility, many people watching their weight or who are on special diets due to health concerns enjoy the Vitamix because it allows them to eat and drink healthier foods and drinks without spending a ton of time in the kitchen or a great amount of money on specialty drinks and meals.
Should I get a Vitamix?
If you read the product reviews on the Vitamix products, everyone seems to rave about them. The benefits are impressive, and one machine can save you from purchasing a blender and a food processor. Though they?re pricey, some people believe it?s totally worth the money to invest in a Vitamix.
If you enjoy making homemade smoothies or fruit drinks without the grainy taste of some of your ingredients, a Vitamix is a good idea. If you want to make your own baby food, homemade soup or homemade ice cream, or if you grind grains or knead dough on a regular basis, a Vitamix will be a perfect addition to your kitchen.
On the other hand, if you?re really only interested in doing smaller tasks with your blender, a Vitamix may be too much. If you want to make smoothies from soft ingredients, such as strawberries and bananas, a regular blender, such as an Osterizer, will suffice.
There is another product on the market similar to Vitamix, known as BlendTec. These machines are a bit cheaper than the Vitamix and tend to be much smaller in size. Some people prefer the BlendTec because you only have to deal with one canister no matter what you?re blending. With the Vitamix, you have separate canisters: one for wet food and one for dry food. Its lower price tag and LCD display also makes it more appealing to some.
Before deciding if a Vitamix is right for you, determine what you would use it for. If it seems like you would use it everyday and for various reasons, it may be a smart investment. If you?re unsure, you can always try out something less expensive and see how it works out. If it doesn?t, you can always purchase a Vitamix.
Melissa Smith writes for Fisher Nuts and recommends using a Vitamix to make your own Pine Nuts butter. The speed and strenght of the machine allows for very smooth results palatable to all.
